Made this character a while ago for a speed painting, its basically a cookie cutter of my style :S still though, tried to make the face a lil different, went with a spumco style girl face.
Over all I thin this is a great piece. I especially love the the design on the boots. She has great movement and great Booty. Her energy is electrifying.
In terms of originality I the costume reminds me a bit of a turquoise version of Ulala from space channel 5. She would make a cool character for her to battle in a dance off. I love that game.
The main thing I would critique is the arms. Remember that silhouette is very important for communication. You want viewers to know what is going on and love it. You don't want them to have to guess about anything. That being said I would pull the elbow of the arm facing the viewer back some. It also would give even more movement to the great movement you already have in the drawing. Right now I think the foreshortening makes it look like she has a little art at first glance.
I know you did it because you want to show off the jet pack, but you can always do another pose to show off that element.
Anyway, thanks so much for all the great comments. I hope the critique was ok. Talk to you soon!
I can't use the critique tool - stupid needing a membership... Anyway - one of my thoughts about this is she feels unbalanced. The booty and the large boots don't match the smaller-feeling top half of her body.
Can't see the crits for some reason. Anyway I wanted to make a comment about the arm in the foreground. Not so much having to bring it back but the foreshortening is way off. It makes her look like she has a 14 inch forearm but a 2 inch upper arm. You could pull it back more and , if you want balance I guess, make the jet pack bigger.
Also I'd probably avoid having her turn on the jet pack...since it seems upside down
lol, i guess i had to activate it, and i only got one critique, i dont get many hits yeah, i agree on the arm comment, i had a different arm originally, and i couldnt make it work so I finally gave up and just did a quick one directly in photoshop, bad idea to just tack something on. lol, as for the jetpack, its not a jetpack, its supposed to be a cartoony battery i need to convey that better on future versions of her. thank you much for the critique!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
